This is what people have to say about Sophie-Safe Cooking!

Mark Ebadi, MD (Allergist):

"One of the best food allergy cookbooks I have ever read. The recipes are creative, easy to make, and most importantly safe. My staff and I have tried them and can attest that they taste wonderful! A must have for mothers of food allergic children."

"Trying to provide 3 meals 365 days a year for your food allergic child and the rest of your family can be quite a daunting task, at least for me it is. That is why when I first held Sophie Safe Cooking in my hands for the first time a few weeks ago, I was overjoyed. As Emily states, it is a "collection of family friendly recipes that are free of milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish" and "the ingredients are all common everyday foods." They happen to be delicious to boot! With over 100 recipes included, the Chocolate Cupcakes and the Creamy Frosting are two that have already become household staples. Thank you Emily!"

"I have to email you to say THANK YOU for writing this book. This is the best book I have so far, and I have tons of cookbooks for food allergies. My 1 1/2 year old son has multiple food allergies, almost all of top 8 plus more. Your cookbook is the only cookbook that avoids top 8 AND it is so practical - I mean, being a mom of food allergic kid I have no time to cook complicated meals. I've been searching for so long for such everyday recipes that also avoid the top 8. Your recipes are really for the food allergic family. I am about to cry writing this. Just want to say THANK YOU again."

"Love this book!!! Being a mother of 4 kids, all with multiple food allergies, I can't say how much this book has been used and appreciated! The recipes are so easy to follow and the ingredients are always very easy to find. This is just a great collection of wonderful recipes. My family always enjoys the meals and especially the desserts!!! I would highly recommend this book for any parent struggling to find ideas on what to feed a child (or family) with food allergies...I just can't say enough about this book! Thank You!!!"

"I just wanted to thank you for writing this book.  My son has anaphalytic food allergies to wheat, milk, egg, all dairy and peanuts.  He is 10 years old.  This cookbook has been so helpful.  I was very scared cooking with oats.  He has had oatmeal in the past but didn't really care for it.  After using it to make the cinnamon cake, pancakes, he LOVES it!  I just feel like these ideas have opened a whole new  food world for us."

"I don't have allergies myself, but a few family members do (in-law w/wheat-milk-nut allergies, cousins w/gluten allergy). I ordered the cookbook so I can be prepared with tasty meals and snacks when they come to visit. So far I've tried the curried rice salad. It was a hit with me, my cousin, her husband, and their two children (ages 1 and 2.5 years)."

"I downloaded your cookbook this weekend and I think it made my year.  :) We just found out that our one year old son has food allergies about 2 weeks ago and it has been life altering for all of us!  I do not enjoy cooking so to have to prepare all his meals and be so careful about the ingrediants was really hard for me. Especially seeing things like xanthum gum in recipes.  What the heck is that?!?  I made the meatballs last night (very tasty) the oatmeal muffins (yum) and the oatmeal pancakes.  I have several more of your recipes on standby for this week.  I truly appreciate that you took the time to put this together for moms like me."

"Thank you so very much for your wonderful cookbook. It has been a considerable source of relief as we struggle to figure out what to offer our son. Your cookbook is a treasure!"

"Hi, I wanted to thank you for your book.  It is a great blessing to me  and our family,  my son Luke who is now almost 2 and a half years old has all of the same allergies as your Sophie, plus corn and minus soy.  It is  so nice to know we are not the only ones who deal with this on a daily  basis.  I LOVE how your recipes use everyday ingredients you can find in  the store.  It has been a great encouragement and support to me and my family.  I feel more empowered having additional recipes for our little guy!  I am finally starting to feel he has choices for yummy foods and  isn't missing out.  Best Wishes to you and thank you again for writing your book!"

"Great Allergy Cookbook! I recently received my copy of Sophie-Safe Cooking. I tried the Spicy Chicken Bake that night. I like the fact that I read through the ingredients & already had everything I needed; I hate having to run out and buy some esoteric product that I'll probably never use again. And the dish turned out to be very tasty, and well-suited to my fairly basic cooking skills."

"I just bought your book today, and prepared two recipes from it already- the oatmeal muffins and the creamed chicken and peas.  (I did add raisins to the oatmeal muffins!)  I cannot wait to try more recipes tomorrow! My only question for you is:  When is your second book coming out?  Sign me up for the waiting list!!!  Your cookbook is the only one I've found so far that uses everyday, common ingredients to prepare "normal" food."

"The whimsical illustration on the cover of Sophie-Safe Cooking is the perfect representation of its contents. Simple, down-home recipes, created from a mother's love. There is just one thing missing...okay, there are eight things missing...milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish.  Emily Hendrix authored this delightful collection from the tasty meals and treats she created for her food allergic child, Sophie.
"Sophie-Safe Cooking houses over 100 recipes very neatly laid out, one per page.  Most of the recipes contain less than ten ingredients (always a top feature for me) and for the most part the directions are just a few straightforward sentences.  Emily adds in helpful, but brief, notes with several of the recipes.  Most of the recipes are Sophie-Safe versions of familiar family favorites, such as Granny's Meatloaf, Shepherd's Pie, and Chocolate Cupcakes (frosted of course!).  While a few unique concepts caught my eye, like the Whipped Pinto Beans, Zucchini Brownies, and Taco Vinaigrette."
"This cookbook covers the daily menu: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert.  Though, I must confess that I seem to be stuck on the baked goods and the salad dressings.  In fact, the Pumpkin Muffin recipe is now on my weekly baking schedule."
